No Gatekeeping! My Holy Grail Foodie Hits in Chiayi You Can’t Miss

Every time I find myself in Chiayi, there are a few absolute “must-visit” spots that I literally check into like it’s my job. I’m officially ending the gatekeeping today and sharing my personal foodie hit list with all of you! 😋 If you’ve got some secret gems I missed, please drop them in the comments—I’m always down for another food run!

📍 Wenhua Road Night Market Staples:

🔺 Da Wenhua – Stir-Fried Duck Soup: If you live for that “wok hei” (you know, that incredible smoky, charred aroma), this is your place. It’s got that perfect hint of sweetness, and when you add a spoonful of chili powder? Absolute game changer. I usually grab their duck blood cake too because the sauce is to die for, but I accidentally ordered the duck intestines this time… still good, but my heart belongs to that cake! 🦆🔥

🔺 Pin An Soy Milk Tofu Pudding: Calling all my taro lovers! Their rich soy milk paired with silky taro paste is basically a hug in a bowl. Plus, you can customize the sweetness of the soy milk, so you can pretend you’re being “healthy” while devouring the whole thing. 😆

🔺 A-An Sticky Rice: We’re talking perfectly chewy, individual grains of glutinous rice topped with savory minced pork. It’s great on its own, but once you swirl in some sweet chili sauce, the flavors just pop. Oh, and don’t sleep on the free bonito soup! It’s complimentary, but the flavor is legit—no cutting corners here.

🔺 Kiki’s Healthy Shop: Okay, technically this one is over in Minxiong, but I will literally go out of my way every single time just to get my fix. Their homemade yogurt and jams topped with fresh fruit? Pure magic. My absolute obsession is the Mulberry Pineapple jam—it’s the perfect balance of sweet and tart. I’m still dreaming about it. 🍍🍇
