Miaoli / Shuye VILLA: The Dreamy Glass Forest Bathhouse
Tucked away in Miaoli, Shuye VILLA is a collection of standalone villas that are truly a labor of love. The owner poured four years and a cool $5 million into building just four rooms, and let me tell you, it shows! As you stroll through the property, you can literally breathe in the heavenly scent of lush camphor trees. The rooftop garden, blooming with irises, azaleas, and osmanthus, is the perfect spot for a leisurely walk. The design and ambiance here are just next-level. Each room features a skylight above the bed, so you can go stargazing right from your pillow – seriously romantic! And the bathrooms? They boast huge soaking tubs with floor-to-ceiling windows, making it feel like you’re bathing right in nature. Pure bliss!

Miaoli / Tai’an Guanzhi Hot Spring Resort: The Semi-Open Rock Tub
Tai’an is famous for its hot springs, and as you drive through, you’ll see hot spring hotels and resorts galore. But let me tell you, Tai’an Guanzhi Hot Spring Resort really stands out from the crowd! Perched amidst the lush green forests of Miaoli’s mountains, its sleek, minimalist concrete architecture blends seamlessly with the stunning natural surroundings. We stayed in one of their newly designed Sun View Suites (Collector’s Edition), and the space was brilliantly split into two sections. Inside, moody, warm yellow lighting creates a super cozy and relaxing vibe, with tons of cypress wood and cool coffered ceilings giving it a refined yet striking feel.
The other side of the suite? A spacious, semi-open-air rock tub and a separate shower area, which totally cranks up the vacation vibes. And trust me, beyond your private bath, you absolutely don’t want to miss the outdoor hot spring area surrounded by mountains and that incredible infinity pool. Not only do you get to soak in emerald green views, but swimming with my son in that huge infinity pool felt like we were at a fancy international resort!
