Hey flower fanatics! Guess what? You don’t have to venture far from Taipei’s city center to witness an absolutely stunning floral display! The Dajia Riverside Park is currently experiencing a major sunflower explosion, with over 180,000 blooms popping up way ahead of schedule. According to the Taipei Water Department’s fan page (they’ve got the inside scoop!), these golden beauties were originally slated for a late September debut, but more than half of them are already showing off! Under the glorious sun, each vibrant yellow bloom just radiates pure joy. And get this – the flower field has quadrupled in size this year, making every single angle a picture-perfect moment! Seriously, you’ve gotta check this out!
Dajia Riverside Park’s Sunflower Sea Debuts!
Okay, so where exactly is this floral wonderland? Dajia Riverside Park is nestled right between Taipei’s Zhongshan Bridge and Dazhi Bridge. Every autumn, this place transforms with a different themed flower exhibition, and this year, the all-time favorite sunflowers are kicking things off! They’ve planted two gorgeous varieties, ‘Orange Black Heart’ and ‘Orange Yellow Heart’ (how cool are those names?!), totaling over 180,000 individual plants. We’re talking about a flower field spanning over an acre – that’s four times bigger than previous years! Usually, these sunny giants don’t hit their peak until October, but this year, they’ve fast-forwarded by half a month, with over half already in full bloom. So, if you’re planning a visit, mark your calendars: the best viewing period is expected to be late September through early October. Grab those good weather days and get out there! And don’t worry, even after the sunflowers fade, zinnias and cosmos are slated to take center stage next!

Easy Access by Public Transport for Seamless Flower Viewing
Getting to Dajia Riverside Park is an absolute breeze, especially with Taipei’s fantastic public transportation. You’ve got a few options!
By Bus: Hop on a Taipei city bus and get off at the ‘No. 8 Water Gate Station.’ From there, Dajia Riverside Park is literally right outside! Just a quick 5-minute stroll towards the ‘Hope Fountain’ or ‘Grand Hotel,’ and you’ll be smack dab in the middle of that glorious sunflower sea.
By MRT + YouBike: Take the MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line (Red Line) to ‘Yuanshan Station.’ Once you exit, you can rent a YouBike (Taipei’s super convenient public bike system) and cycle through the Yuanshan Expo Park. Make a left onto Zhongshan North Road Section 3, go straight to the end, then turn right to cross the Zhongshan 2nd Bridge pedestrian/bike path. You’ll enter Dajia Riverside Park, and if you follow the riverside bike path upstream for about 1.6 kilometers (roughly a mile), you won’t miss that massive, golden expanse of sunflowers!
