Route 1: Feel the City’s Vibrant Pulse
Tanya Shen Green Bikeway → Calligraphy Greenway + PARK2 + Shen Ji New Village → National Taichung Theater → Feng Chia Night Market
Kick off your day on the Tanya Shen Green Bikeway. Grab a bike! This green tunnel stretches from Tanzi to Qingquangang. It was once an old railway. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. You’ll feel so refreshed!

Next, stroll along Calligraphy Greenway. You can find hidden gems here. Check out PARK2 and Shen Ji New Village. Both are super popular. PARK2 boasts tons of lush greenery. Shen Ji New Village has a cool, artsy vibe. Both spots feature unique shops. They often host weekend markets too!

Before hitting Feng Chia Night Market, visit the National Taichung Theater. It’s an architectural marvel. Japanese architect Toyo Ito designed it. This ‘sound cave’ building is truly stunning. Your mind and body will thank you. Then, it’s time for some amazing Taichung street food!

Route 2: From Cityscapes to Seashores
Imperial Sugar Factory → Miyahara Ice Cream → Green & Willow Rivers → Wuqi Cultural Center → Wuqi Fishing Harbor → Gaomei Wetlands
Start your adventure near Taichung Main Station. Visit the Imperial Sugar Factory. It’s a historic building from the Japanese colonial era. Miyahara Ice Cream is also nearby. This popular spot used to be an eye clinic. Now, it’s famous for pineapple cakes and desserts. Grab a scoop of ice cream before you hit the road!



Next, head to the Green and Willow Rivers. Experience Taichung’s version of Kyoto’s Kamogawa River. These beautiful waterfronts are perfect for a relaxing stroll.

Later, drive towards the coast. Visit Wuqi Cultural Center. You can try on a yukata and explore historical buildings. It’s a fun Japanese cultural experience. Then, hit up Wuqi Fishing Harbor’s tourist fish market. Fresh sashimi is a must-try here!



Finally, arrive at Gaomei Wetlands by sunset. The breathtaking views are incredible. It’s the perfect way to end your amazing day!

Route 3: Deep Dive into Mountains & Local Industries
Malipu Painted Alley → Xinshe Mushroom Picking → Princess Annie’s Garden → Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way


Next, wander through Princess Annie’s Garden. This English-style estate is mostly pink. It features lovely gardens and family-friendly facilities. Plus, they serve delicious afternoon tea.

Finally, head to the Dongfeng Bicycle Green Way. It connects Fengyuan, Shigang, and Dongshi. This path was built on an old railway. It’s safe for all ages. Lush greenery lines the route. It’s perfect for a family bike ride!

Dakeng Trails No. 9 & 10 → Asia University Museum of Modern Art → Wufeng Farmers’ Association Winery → Wufeng Lin Family Mansion & Garden → Guangfu New Village → 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan
Dakeng Trails No. 9 and 10 are known as “Taichung’s Backyard.” These trails are perfect for all ages. Enjoy refreshing bamboo and acacia forests. Scenic platforms offer stunning views of Taichung. It’s a great spot for a family hike!

After your hike, grab a coffee at Asia University Museum of Modern Art. Take a moment to relax. This building is a big deal! It’s the first work in Taiwan by famed architect Tadao Ando.

Next, drive to Wufeng, a cultural hub. On the way, stop at Wufeng Farmers’ Association Winery. This old granary now makes premium sake. Discover their secrets! Then, visit Wufeng Lin Family Mansion & Garden. I highly recommend booking a guided tour online first. You’ll gain a deeper appreciation for Taiwan’s most complete traditional architectural complex.


After a full day, explore Guangfu New Village. It’s an old village turned creative hub. Check out its weekend market. Or, visit the 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan. It documents the quake’s scientific, natural, and human impact. It’s a powerful and thought-provoking end to your journey.
