Gaomei Wetlands

Gaomei Wetlands was once a swimming beach. Then, it transformed into an ecological haven. It became a rich habitat for migratory birds.
Eventually, it gained popularity among locals and tourists. This spot, nestled between the Dajia River and Taichung Port, is now a top-rated attraction.
The sunset at Gaomei Wetlands is absolutely stunning. It’s a definite photo op! The golden sun and the bright blue sky. They paint a truly beautiful picture.
What’s more, you can even spot crabs at low tide!
Imagine watching the sunset, wading through the mud. You can laugh and play with your loved ones here. It’s truly a fantastic spot! You absolutely must visit.
▲ Taichung Must-See #4
Autumn Red Valley (Fulfillment Amphitheater)

Autumn Red Valley was originally slated to be an exhibition center. However, it evolved into a massive detention basin park instead. At night, it reflects the stunning high-rises around it. It’s truly a beautiful accident!
I’ve visited both during the day and at night. By day, it’s a peaceful park for strolls. At night, it transforms into a romantic spot for couples.
Plus, in the center, you’ll find a public exhibition hall and a scenic restaurant. The exhibition hall often hosts special exhibits. You should definitely check them out. It’s a great place to enjoy both art and beautiful views!

National Taichung Theater

Japanese architect Toyo Ito designed this theater. Its exterior has a truly unique shape. You’ll get a different vibe from every angle.
Construction took a long time. However, it features an innovative water curtain fire system. It also uses a curved wall technique without beams or right angles. Media even dubbed it one of the “Nine Architectural Wonders of the World.”
The opera house has four performance halls. They range from small to large. There’s even an outdoor performance space. If you get the chance, definitely treat yourself to an auditory feast here.
Some areas inside are open for free exploration and photos. If you’re looking for fun Taichung attractions, I truly believe the National Taichung Theater is your top choice!

Tai’an Metasequoia Secret Spot

Every autumn and winter brings the golden and reddish metasequoia season. Let me tell you a little secret. There’s a small metasequoia hidden gem in Houli, Taichung. It’s right next to Tai’an Elementary School, down a tiny alley. It’s a truly picturesque, dreamy spot!
It might not be huge. Still, you can spend a long time here. Tall metasequoia trees line both sides. They give you the illusion of being in a K-drama!
This is also a must-visit date spot for couples. You can always capture your significant other looking their absolute best! Just a friendly heads-up: while you’re enjoying the beauty, please also take care of the environment. Let’s keep this gem beautiful!
